“An estimated 1.7 billion people around the world remain “unbanked” and do not have access to basic financial services, such as a bank account, according to The World Bank’s latest figures.”

The venture capital arm of UNICEF aims to improve global financial access with seed funding awards of $100,000 to seven promising blockchain startups.

The hope is that these investments boost local ownership economies, improve the lives and health of children, and grow entrepreneurship in developing nations, according to today’s announcement.
